Govt distriubutes Rs five lakh for rehabilitation of naxalites

As part of its scheme to bring naxalites into the mainstream, the Bihar government on Wednesday distributed Rs five lakh amongst 16 surrendered naxalites.

Muzaffarpur, Feb 04: As part of its scheme to bring
naxalites into the mainstream, the Bihar government on Wednesday
distributed Rs five lakh amongst 16 surrendered naxalites
belonging to CPI (Maiosts) in the district on Wednesday.

The 16 naxalites including its area commander Awdhesh
Paswan, operating in the blocks of Gaighat, Aurai and Katra of
the district, had surrendered before the district magistrate
during the Janata Durbar held at Meenapur block on March 13,
2008.

The District Magistrate Bipin Kumar and Superintedent of
Police jointly gave Rs 80,000 to Awdhesh Paswan and Rs 28,000
each to other 15 naxalites as part of first instalment of
rehabiliation scheme.
