New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hailed Karun Nair's epic triple-hundred as “historic” and said that all Indians are proud of the young batsman's “remarkable feat”.
Playing the innings of his life, Karun Nair today became the second Indian, after Virender Sehwag, to score a triple-hundred during fourth day's play of the fifth and final Test against England in Chennai.
Modi was one of the first to congratulate the 25-year-old, and wrote:

Virender Sehwag, Chris Gayle, Harbhajan Singh and Gautam Gambhir also congratulated Nair.

Nair, in the process, also became the first Indian to convert a maiden Test century into a triple hundred.
But his score of 303 no is still not enough to beat Sehwag's two triple hundreds, 309 against Pakistan in 2004 and 319 against South Africa four years later.
