New Delhi: Former Australia cricket skipper Michael Clarke made a decent looking 48 runs in his comeback game in a club match and called his innings rusty.
Clarke who is playing for his old side Western Suburbs, was lucky to be dropped twice in his route to 48 runs against Randwick-Petersham at the Sydney club cricket on Saturday.
Clarke who was finally dismissed leg before wicket to Sam Doggett, had hit seven fours in his knock. Interestingly he was dropped on the scores of 0 and 30 in the second slip twice.
Clarke said that it was more of him to just come back and play as there was certainly a bit of rust in his batting.
"I didn't really have too many goals to be honest, it was more just to come back and play, walk out to the middle and as you would've seen there was certainly a bit of rust there,” said Clarke.
He also stated that he enjoyed his batting and he wants to contribute.
"It was nice, I enjoyed it. I batted for a good length of time and the body feels pretty good. My goal here is to come and try and contribute.”
The former Aussie legend also said that he was fortunate to score some runs and it was nice to spend time at the crease.
“Fortunately I made a few runs, I always want some more, but I'll worry about anything past that after this game. I didn't feel great, but it was nice to spend some time in the middle and score some runs."
Earlier, Clarke said before his comeback game that he "missed the game", and wanted to have a crack at making his mark in T20s.
Clarke played in 115 Tests and 245 one-day internationals, he only took part in 34 T20 internationals during his first-class career.
Clarke, 34, bowed out of the game in August after the disastrous Ashes series in England.
