Suresh Raina: Learnt being calm in T20 cricket from MS Dhoni

New Delhi: Despite being dropped from India's ODI squad for the Australian tour, Suresh Raina is in a positive frame of mind ahead of the upcoming T20 series.

The three-match T20 series is being seen as perfect preparation for Team India ahead of the ICC World Cup T20 on home soil in March.

Raina, considered one of India's most important players in the shortest format, believes a win Down Under will boost confidence of the side.

“I am looking forward to playing against Australia and I’m keen to do well there. It is a big tournament for us. We have done really well in T20 cricket. I think it is important to win those three games in Australia and get back our confidence before we come to India,” the southpaw told DNA.

The 29-year-old also feels staying calm, something he learnt from MS Dhoni, through the course of a T20 match is crucial for optimizing performance.

“I always believed T20 is about intent. It is very important to think positive in all the 40 overs, whether you batting, fielding or captaining the side. Results will follow. You need to calmly handle everything, which is what I learnt from MS (Dhoni) and other senior players. It’s important to know your strength and how you want to do well on the field,” Raina said.

Currently leading Uttar Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Raina will be under tremendous pressure to deliver in Australia.
