West Bengal: TMC leader Subodh Pramanik arrested for possessing opium, bombs

Kolkata: In what can bring in huge embarrassment for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee ahead of the high voltage Assembly elections, Trinamool Congress leader Subodh Pramanik was on Tuesday arrested by Narcotics Dept in Malda for possession of opium and bombs.

The value of the opium is approximately Rs 3 crore.

The opium was recovered after officials raided Pramanik’s house at Sabdalpur village of Bakhrabad gram panchayat in Baishnabnagar police station in Malda district.

Reports say that livebombs and firearms were also found from the TMC leader's residence.

The Malda SP has confirmed that two persons have been arrested by the narcotics department.
