UPA will form next successive govt at Centre: Azad

AICC Gen Secy Ghulam Nabi Azad Friday said the Congress-led UPA would form the next "successive" govt at the Centre under the leadership of PM.

Puducherry, May 08: AICC General Secretary Ghulam
Nabi Azad today said the Congress-led UPA would form the next
"successive" government at the Centre under the leadership of
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

"We are cent per cent sure that we would emerge as the
single largest party and will form the government after the
polls," Azad, who was here to address a public meeting to woo
support for Congress Lok Sabha candidate V Narayanasamy, told
reporters.

Stating that the party`s alliance with the DMK would
continue as it was one of "our strong allies", he said "we
will work together at the national and state levels."

He claimed that Tamil Nadu had received more funds during
the UPA rule at the Centre than the previous NDA government.

"So was the case in Puducherry. The implementation of the
schemes for infrastructural development, IT programmes, road
connectivity and the National Rural Employment Guarantee
scheme had been done exceedingly well here," he said.

The growth and development of Union Territories was
important for the Congress right from the days of Indira
Gandhi, he said, and added the Congress believed in
"territorial integrity of the country."
