Mumbai: The CBI today told the Bombay High
Court that it will defreeze the bank accounts of Monica Bedi,
the Bollywood actor and former companion of gangster Abu Salem.
Bedi had moved the High Court to get the accounts
released, arguing that she had been acquitted in all the
cases filed by CBI, barring one case where an appeal is
pending in the Supreme Court.
The High Court on November 19 asked CBI to explain why it
has not released the bank accounts of Bedi.
CBI had frozen her accounts in HDFC bank in suburban
Andheri after she was extradited to India along with Salem
from Portugal in 2005.
The cases filed against her by CBI mostly related to
forgery of passport.
