Mining officer suspended for dereliction of duty in Chhattisgarh

A mining officer has been suspended for alleged dereliction of duty in Chhattisgarh's Naxal-hit Dantewada district.

Raipur: A mining officer has been suspended for alleged dereliction of duty in Chhattisgarh's Naxal-hit Dantewada district.

Mining Officer BK Shori's suspension order was issued by Mineral Resources Department late last evening, an official statement said on Tuesday.

During a meeting of Scheduled Tribes Advisory Committee chaired by Chief Minister Raman Singh yesterday, Bastar MP Dinesh Kashyap had informed about illegal mining of iron ore in the mineral-rich Dantewada in south Bastar.

Subsequently, the CM asked the officials to take a stern action in the case.

As per the statement, Shori was suspended for negligence in discharging his duties as he did not take appropriate step to check illegal mining of iron ore and its transportation in the region.

Deputy Director Mining, Bastar RC Netam will handle the additional charge of Dantewada in place of Shori, it said.
