New Delhi, Mar 10: India Fashion Week will be organized twice a year from 2006, Fashion Design Council of
India (FDCI) said here today.

"We are looking at hosting the India Fashion Week two times in a year from next year with one in Mumbai and one in
Delhi," said Rathi Vinay Jha, director-general, FDCI while announcing April 20-26, 2005 as the dates for Lakme India
Fashion Week (LIFW).

This year 61 designers will take part in it and there will be 39 shows, said Jha.

The event is managed by IMG with Lakme as the title sponsor. Samsung mobiles are the associate sponsors with six other co-sponsors.

Lakme Lever has been the title sponsor so far and its contract ends this year.

"Lakme has become synonymous with the India Fashion Week. We will certainly be pitching for the title sponsorship when the times come," said Anil Chopra of Lakme Lever.

Commenting on the selection of new title sponsors for the next three India Fashion Week, Ravi Krishnan, managing director of IMG said, "We hope to close the issue six months before the next fashion week begins."

According to industry estimates, organizing a event of this magnitude costs anything between Rs 5-7 crore.

"We are involved with LIFW for the third time and we have gained from it considerably especially because this becomes a
fashion-cum-media event," said Anupam Bansal, director, Liberty Group.
