Top LeT commander killed in encounter

Srinagar, Jan 05: Security forces today shot dead a top commander of Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Toiba outfit and seized a huge cache of explosives, including 12 kgs of deadly RDX, in Jammu and Kashmir today, a police spokesman said.

The self-styled district launching chief of LeT Abu
Assadullah alias Janbaaz, a resident of Pakistan, was killed
in an encounter with troops of Rashtriya Rifles at Batkote
village of Handwara in Kupwara district in the wee hours, the
spokesman said.

He said the militant commander was killed after he was
confronted by the troops during search operations and asked to
surrender. Instead, he opened fire and in the retaliatory
action got killed.
