The Aviator receives 14 nominations for BAFTA

London, Jan 19: "The Aviator" has received 14 nominations for the forthcoming Orange British Academy Film Awards. "Finding Neverland" and "Vera Drake" have both received 11 nominations, and "House of Flying Daggers" has received 9.

Kate Winslet has two nominations in the category Actress in a Leading Role, for "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and "Finding Neverland." Jamie Foxx also has two nominations; Actor in a Leading Role for "Ray" and Actor in a Supporting Role for "Collateral."
"The Aviator" has been nominated in the categories Film, The David Lean Award for Achievement in Direction for Martin Scorsese, Original Screenplay, Make-Up & Hair, Achievement in Special Visual Effects, Sound, Editing, Costume Design, Production Design, Cinematography and The Anthony Asquith Award for Achievement in Film Music. Leonardo DiCaprio has been nominated in the category Actor in a Leading Role, Alan Alda for Actor in a Supporting Role and Cate Blanchett for Actress in a Supporting Role.
In addition to Kate Winslet’s nomination, "Finding Neverland" has been nominated in the categories Film, Achievement in Direction for Marc Forster, Adapted Screenplay, Make-Up & Hair, Costume Design, Production Design, Cinematography and Film Music. Johnny Depp has been nominated for Actor in a Leading Role and Julie Christie in the Actress in a Supporting Role category.
"Vera Drake" has been nominated for Film, Achievement in Direction for Mike Leigh, The Alexander Korda Award for Outstanding British Film of the Year, Actress in a Leading Role for Imelda Staunton, Actress in a Supporting Role for Heather Craney, Actor in a Supporting Role for Phil Davis, Original Screenplay, Make-Up & Hair, Editing, Costume Design and Production Design.

"House of Flying Daggers" (Shi Mian Mai Fu) has been nominated in the categories Actress in a Leading Role for Ziyi Zhang, Make-Up & Hair, Special Visual Effects, Sound, Editing, Costume Design, Production Design, Cinematography and Film Not in the English Language.

"The Motorcycle Diaries" (Diarios De Motocicleta) has collected 7 nominations, in the categories Film, Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, Film Music, Film Not in the English Language plus Actor in a Leading Role for Gael Garcia Bernal and Actor in a Supporting Role for Rodrigo De La Serna.

"Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" has been nominated in 6 categories; Film, Achievement in Direction for Michel Gondry, Original Screenplay, Editing and in addition to Kate Winslet’s nomination, Jim Carrey has been nominated for Actor in a Leading Role.

"Collateral” also has 6 nominations, in the categories Achievement in Direction for Michael Mann, Original Screenplay, Sound, Editing and Cinematography, as well as Jamie Foxx’s nomination.

"Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" has 4 nominations, in the categories British Film of the Year, Make-Up & Hair, Achievement in Special Visual Effects and Production Design.

"Ray" also has 4 nominations. In addition to Jamie Foxx, it has nominations in the categories Original Screenplay, Sound and Film Music.

"Closer" has been nominated for Adapted Screenplay, Actor in a Supporting Role for Clive Owen and Actress in a Supporting Role for Natalie Portman.

"The Chorus" (Les Choristes) has been nominated for Adapted Screenplay, Film Not in the English Language and Film Music. Spider-Man 2 has been nominated for Achievement in Special Visual Effects and Sound.
Charlize Theron has been nominated in the Actress in a Leading Role category for Monster, and Meryl Streep has been nominated for Actress in a Supporting Role for The Manchurian Candidate.

"Bad Education" (La Mala Educación) and A Very Long Engagement (Un long dimanche de fiancailles) have both been nominated for Film Not in the English Language.

"Sideways" has been nominated in the category Adapted Screenplay, "The Day After Tomorrow" has been nominated for Achievement in Special Visual Effects and "The Merchant of Venice" has been nominated for Costume Design.
"My Summer of Love," "Shaun of the Dead" and "Dead Man’s Shoes" have been nominated for British Film of the Year.

The nominees for The Carl Foreman Award for Special Achievement by a British Director, Producer or Writer in their first feature film are Andrea Gibb, Writer (for "Afterlife"), Amma Asante, Director & Writer (for "A Way of Life"), Shona Auerbach, Director (for "Dear Frankie"), Matthew Vaughn, Director (for "Layer Cake") and Nira Park, Producer (for "Shaun of the Dead").
Other nominations announced were for Short Film and Short Animation.

The Academy Fellowship and The Michael Balcon Award for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema will be announced at the Film Awards.

The shortlist for the Orange Film of the Year, made up of the top 10 UK box office hits of 2004, is "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason," "The Day After Tomorrow," "Shrek 2," "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," "Spider-Man 2," "Troy," "Shark Tale," "I, Robot," "Scooby Doo 2" and "The Incredibles."

The Awards will be hosted for the fifth time by Stephen Fry and will take place on Saturday 12th February at the Odeon, Leicester Square.
