Team India departs for New Zealand

A tough task awaits Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his boys after they left for New Zealand early morning on Thursday to play a 47-day tour comprising two Twenty20 Internationals, five One-Day Internationals and three Test matches.

Mumbai, Feb 19: A zealous team India left for New Zealand early this morning to play to a tough series comprising of two Twenty20 Internationals, five One-Day Internationals and three Test matches.

However it is only the ODI and T20 squad that has left now. The members of the Test team, who are not a part of either of the limited overs events, will leave later.

The Indian team, led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, is currently at the peak of its successes after they have had a sweet taste of victory in the recent home Test series against Australia and England and a spectacular 4-1 triumph against hosts Sri Lanka in an ODI series.
However playing Daniel Vettori’s men on their home soil would be a dwelling task for Dhoni and his boys.

The last time India beat the Kiwis on their home soil in a Test series was 41 years back, when Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi`s team prevailed 3-1.

The team: M S Dhoni (Captain), V Sehwag (vice capt), Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Yusuf Pathan, Rohit Sharma, Harbhajan Singh, Ishant Sharma, Suresh Raina, Irfan Pathan, Zaheer Khan, Ravindra Jadeja, Munaf Patel, Pragyan Ojha, Praveen Kumar, Dinesh Karthik and Sachin Tendulkar.
