Jodhpur, Jan 05: Bollywood actor Salman Khan, who is being tried in a local court here for poaching protected wild animals, has denied through his lawyer that he is threatening or trying to influence witnesses in the case.
Filing an affidavit in the court of district and sessions judge Manak Mohta yesterday, Khan, main accused in the case of hunting black bucks and chinkaras six years back, said he had made no contact with any of the witnesses to influence or threaten them against giving evidence.

The affidavit was filed by his counsel Hastimal Saraswat in reply to the application by the prosecution seeking cancellation of the actor's bail.

The prosecution sought cancellation of bail on the ground that the accused was influencing and threatening witnesses, including Harish Dulani, driver of the vehicle in which the actor allegedly shot dead protected wild animals, as they were not (not) turning up for giving evidence.

Khan was booked for poaching in November 1998 when he was in Jodhpur for the shooting of Suraj Barjatya's film 'Hum Saath Saath Hain'.

Next hearing of the case has been fixed for January 24.
