Shillong, April 26: A fortnight after quitting the
United Democratic Party and resigning as an MLA, Ampareen
Lyngdoh has joined the Congress ignoring pleas by the NCP-led
Meghalaya Progressive Alliance (MPA).

Her re-entry into the Congress, a party which she had
abandoned after it denied a ticket prior to the Assembly
Elections in March last year, was endorsed at a meeting of the
Pradesh Congress committee late last night.

The meeting, chaired by PCC president,
unanimously approved Lyngdoh`s application, party sources
said.

Lyngdoh had resigned from the UDP and the Assembly
on April 3, accusing the MPA leaders of failing to respect the
sentiments of its MLAs.

There were repeated pleas from the MPA urging Lyngdoh to
reconsider her decision.

Earlier, another UDP MLA Nimarson Momin, who had also
resigned from the regional party, withdrew his resignation as
the political drama in the state continued more than month
after President`s Rule was imposed.
