Gaya (Bihar), April 26: Within 24 hours of blasting a
building of an abandoned police picket, CPI-(Maoist) ultras
blew up a health sub-centre at Chonha village in Gaya
district.

Hundreds of heavily armed Naxalites descended on Chonha
village, about 70 km from here, just before midnight and
blasted the building of a health sub-centre which was closed
at that time. They also blew up the residence of former head
of Narayanpur panchayat Maqsood Khan.

The Maoists beat up the family members of Khan and drove
them out of their house before blasting it, official sources
said, adding that the Naxalites looted rupees two lakh and
valuables worth Rs 5 lakh from the house.

The rebels, who have called for boycott of the ongoing Lok
Sabha elections, had blasted the building of an abandoned
police picket at the same village in the wee hours yesterday.

Meanwhile, villagers have staged a sit-in demanding
immediate sacking of Gaya SP MR Naik for failing to take
measures for their security.
