New Delhi, June 06: Petrol and diesel prices in the
national capital have been raised marginally following the
state government's decision to levy sales tax on the two auto
fuels.

Petrol has become dearer by Rs 0.67 a litre to Rs 43.52
per litre from midnight. Diesel price has increased from
Rs 30.25 a litre to Rs 30.48 per litre, oil company sources
said.

"When fuel prices were raised last year, Petroleum
Minister Murli Deora had asked state governments not to levy
sales tax on the incremental price. Delhi government did not
levy sales tax on the increased fuel price but has now decided
to levy 20 per cent sales tax on petrol and 12.5 per cent on
diesel," a source said.
