Mobile phone, betting slips recovered from jail inmates

Jaipur, Jan 05: Mobile phone and betting slips were
recovered from inmates of the district jail in Jhalawar during
a surprise check, prompting the authorities to order an
inquiry, official sources said here today.

While one inmate was found carrying a mobile phone, some
others found possessing slips of betting running into several
lakhs of rupees when a team of district officials, led by
collector Naresh Pal Gangwar conducted a surprise raid
yesterday, the sources said.

A large quantity of cigarettes, bidis and loose tobacco
were also found from the barracks of jail, they said.

A departmental inquiry has been ordered after the matter
was reported to the state headquarters, sources added.
