Maoist involved in NALCO attack held

A Maoist guerrilla, allegedly involved in the April-12 attack on NALCO mines at Damanjodi in Orissa`s Koraput district, was arrested, police said on Sunday.

Bhubaneswar, April 26: A Maoist guerrilla, allegedly
involved in the April-12 attack on NALCO mines at Damanjodi in
Orissa`s Koraput district, was arrested, police said on Sunday.

Acting on an information, a police team nabbed the ultra,
identified as Chitru Sirika (28) of Laxmipur area from a
market at Sunabeda where he had gone to purchase medicines and
other materials yesterday, they said.

A member of the armed squad of the red rebels, Sirika
functioned as a local guide and courier for the ultras making
arrangements for logistics, they said.

With Sirka`s arrest the number of Maoists nabbed for the
attack on NALCO bauxite mines has increased to four, policce
said.

A large number of armed Maoists had attacked the fire
station and magazine room of NALCO in the bauxite mines area
on the night of April 12 killing eleven CISF jawans, while
four ultras had also been gunned down in the fierce exchange
of fire that continued for over eight hours.
