MAMC gang-rape case: Accused Rahul, Amit convicted

New Delhi, Jan 06: A Delhi Court today convicted Maulana Azad Medical College student gang-rape prime accused Rahul and his accomplice Amit.

New Delhi, Jan 06: A Delhi Court today convicted Maulana Azad Medical College student gang-rape prime accused Rahul and his accomplice Amit.

Additional Sessions Judge Chander Shekhar held the duo guilty of the offence and fixed January 17 to hear arguments on the quantum of punishment to be awarded to them.

However, the court acquitted two others - Ashok of charges of harbouring the accused and Mohan Lal, who was accused of receiving stolen property.

Two years ago, a girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by four youth at knife point on the terrace of the 'Khooni Darwaza' monument in Central Delhi.

A week after the gruesome incident, Rahul was arrested by police on November 22, 2002, based on leads provided by the girl, who claimed that the rapist bore a tattoo 'Rahul' on his fore arm.

Additional Sessions Judge Chandra Shekhar had on December 14, 2004 reserved his order after hearing arguments.
