Kancheepuram, Jan 05: The Kanchi mutt accountant,
Viswanatha Iyer, arrested here last night, was remanded to
judicial custody till January 19 and his bail plea, moved
today, was posted for hearing on January 7.
When mutt advocate Revathi Vasudevan moved the application
on Viswanatha Iyer's behalf, judicial magistrate-I, Uthamaraj,
posted it for hearing on January 7.
Viswanatha Iyer was arrested by the special team, which is
probing the Sankararaman murder case, last night, on charges
of tampering with the accounts of the mutt. He was arrested
under Section 420 (cheating) of CrPC and various other
sections.
The special team had interrogated Viswanatha Iyer for two
hours last evening and then allowed him to leave at 2100 hrs.
However, he was arrested an hour later. He was later remanded
to judicial custody till January 19.
