Rohtak (Haryana), Jan 19: A four-day Indo-Pak Theatre Festival began here with the staging of 'Patey Khan', a play by a theatre group from Lahore.
Inaugurating the festival yesterday at Pandit Shri Ram Sharma Rangshala here, Vice-Chancellor of Maharishi Dayanand University, R S Dhankar, described the artistes as cultural and peace ambassadors.
He said such exchanges between the two countries will help in normalising relations and spreading the message of goodwill.
‘Patey Khan’ by Rafi theatre group was a tongue-in-cheek portrait of the administrative facade of a ruler. The doings of representative of the ruler, the misrule, the sufferings of people, and the ultimate revolt of people formed the crux of the play.
The festival is being organised by the Rohtak Chapter of Spic-Macay. Three more plays - 'Jab main sirf aurat hoti', 'Razia ki diary' and 'Gadhe ki barat' will be staged in the festival which will end on January 21.
