Human trafficking case: Order on bail plea of 3 co-accused

A Delhi Court would pronounce today its order on the bail plea of three co-accused of suspended BJP parliamentarian Babubhai Katara in the human trafficking case.

New Delhi, June 06: A Delhi Court would pronounce
today its order on the bail plea of three co-accused of
suspended BJP parliamentarian Babubhai Katara in the human
trafficking case.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kamini Lau,
after hearing the arguments on the bail applications of
accused Kiran Dhar, Sunder Lal Yadav and Satwant, yesterday
reserved its order for June six.

Opposing Dhar's bail plea that her role, if any, in the
offence was minimal, Delhi Police submitted that she was
"instrumental" in forging documents of travellers with an aim
to obtain visa.

Dhar, an associate of co-accused Rajendra Kumar Gumpa
who was personal secretary to lawmaker Katara, used to prepare
all forged documents to enhance the personal profiles of
clients for obtaining visa, police said.

"She was working as chief operation officer with a
Delhi-based travel agency M/s Cloud Nine Travels and Forex Pvt
Ltd and used to communicate with various embassies to obtain
visa for their clients", IO Arvind Kumar said.

The court also heard arguments on bail application of
Yadav who, following his arrest on April 21, had admitted that
he introduced various travel agents, including Rasheed, to the
four lawmakers-- Mitrasen Yadav, Ashok Kumar Rawat, Ramswaroop
Koli and Babubhai Katara.

Police, opposing the bail bid of Yadav, said he was "the
main conduit between MPs and the agents" as they have
recovered his three cheques, worth Rs eight lakhs, from
possession of Katara at IGI airport here.

Katara was arrested on April 18 while trying to take a
woman Paramjeet Kaur and a 15-year-old boy on his wife and
son's passport respectively.
