Chennai, Jan 07: Tamil Nadu government was working out a comprehensive package to sustain the livelihood of Tsunami victims, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa said today.

As a result of the Tsunami disaster, the economy of the coastal districts of the state was in shambles as the fishermen had borne the brunt of the natural fury, she said inaugurating an all party meeting here at the Secretariat.

The all party meeting, convened to discuss the destruction brought about by tsunami, is being attended by 30 parties including DMK, Congress, CPI, CPI-M, MDMK, BJP and PMK.

Fishermen along the coastline had lost not only their houses, but also boats and nets as Tsunami had badly damaged them.

She said the Tsunami had claimed 8,000 victims.

Those participating in the meeting, included M K Stalin and Arcot Veerasamy (DMK), G K Vasan and S R Balasubramanian (Cong), N Varadharajan and T K Rangarajan (CPI-M), R Nallakannu and C Palanichamy (CPI), C P Radhakrishnan (BJP), G K Mani (PMK) and L Ganesan (MDMK).
