BJP demands speedy clearance of Reservation Bill in Rajasthan

The BJP on Sunday asked the Gehlot govet in Rajasthan to put pressure on the Governor to clear the SC/ST/OBC/Gurjar Reservation Bill awaiting his approval since its passage by the state Assembly last year.

Jaipur, April 26: The BJP on Sunday asked the Gehlot
government in Rajasthan to put pressure on the Governor to
clear the SC/ST/OBC/Gurjar Reservation Bill awaiting his
approval since its passage by the state Assembly last year
during the previous Vasundhara Raje regime.

The Bill promising five percent reservation to Gurjars
and three other castes, and 14 percent to the poor among the
upper castes passed by the state Assembly is still pending
with the Governor SK Singh which is unconstitutional, Ramdas
Agarwal, the party`s national treasurer, told presspersons
here.

He also said that the BJP will launch an agitation over
the issue after the Lok Sabha polls if the Congress government
in Rajasthan fails to get the Bbill cleared by the Governor.

"If the state government does not act now, the BJP would
launch a long-drawn agitation including rally to the Raj
Bhawan after May 7 Lok Sabha polls to have it cleared,"
Agarwal warned.

Claiming that two third of the state`s population will be
benefitted by the legislation, he alleged that the Governor is
not giving his sanction to the Bill in a bid to show his
loyalty to the Congress high command.

On bringing back black money from Swiss banks, Agarwal
who is also election incharge, said if the UPA government had
received any information on the account holders, it should be
made public right now.
