Mumbai: The world is gearing up for the fourth International Yoga Day. And on this occasion, internationally acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has shared some images of his sand art creations that will inspire you to practise Yoga.

The sand artist also depicted the role of Yoga in bringing peace and harmony across the globe.

In one of his creations, he has depicted five leaders sitting in the Padmasana posture with the flags of their respective countries in the background. We can see leaders such as  US President Donald Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and our very own Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

We can also see a sand table with the logo of International Yoga Day drawn on it.

The International Day for Yoga was declared unanimously by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) after PM Modi proposed the idea during his speech on 27 September 2014. The first International Yoga Day was celebrated across the globe on June 21, 2015.
It was PM Modi who had suggested the date because it is of great significance in many parts of the world. Moreover, it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.

Greeting yoga enthusiasts across the world on the occasion, the PM said that this exercise is one of the most precious gifts given by the ancient Indian sages to humankind.

"Yoga is not just a set of exercises that keeps the body fit. It is a passport to health assurance, a key to fitness and wellness. Nor is Yoga only what you practice in the morning. Doing your day-to-day activities with diligence and complete awareness is a form of Yoga as well," a statement quoting Modi said.

"In a world of excess, yoga promises restraint and balance. In a world suffering from mental stress, it promises calm. In a distracted world, it helps focus. In a world of fear, it promises hope, strength and courage," the statement added.
Here's wishing one and all good health on the fourth International Yoga Day.
