New Delhi: A day after the Uttar Pradesh Food and Drug Administration accused Mother Diary of not meeting up to its standard, the company said that it has sent it milk samples collected from Agra to Kolkata for retesting and results are awaited.

"The first test was conducted in Meerut by UP FDA and it found solid not fat (SNF) and there was no adulteration. We questioned SNF and sent the same samples for retesting to a lab in Kolkata, we are still awaiting the results," Mother Dairy Managing Director S Nagarajan told reporters here.

The UP FDA has claimed that traces of detergent have been detected in milk samples of Mother Dairy, which is owned by National Dairy Development Board of India.

Ram Naresh Yadav, chief of the FDA department in Agra, said two samples were taken from Mother Dairy's collection centres in Bah tehsil, 70 km from Agra city, in November 2014.

However, the company has denied the charge maintaining that the milk it supplies undergoes several tests on a regular basis.

The development came amid ragging controversy over excess amount of lead and monosodium glutamate (MSG) content in Nestle's instant Maggi noodles.
