A Muslim mob attacked a Hindu temple in Punjab province of Pakistan, burning down parts of it and damaging idols. After the failure of police, the Pakistan Rangers have been called to control the situation.

New Delhi: An incensed mob vandalised a Hindu temple and desecrated the idols in a small town of Pakistan exposing the simmering hate against the Hindu minority community of the Islamic nation, the silent consent of the ruling government, and frailty of Hindu political leadership that stops short of censuring the incident that too in calculated words, a video footage of the incident has surfaced.

The viral video on social media, a group of young men holding batons are seen marching in the streets of the town, shouting religious slogans, and in another visual, they can be seen wrecking inside of a Hindu temple, breaking glass windows, throwing stones on idols, smashing fans, and whatever they could find.

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party’s Hindu Member National Assembly (MNA) Ramesh Kumar Vankwani informed that the incident happened in Bhong city falling in Rahimyar Khan district of Pakistan’s Punjab province.

Unconfirmed sources revealed that the enraged mob also indulged in sectarian violence threatening the Hindu populace to embrace Islam.

“Situation was tense following the incident. Negligence by local police is very shameful”, Vankwani said.

He said he had urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan to intervene and take appropriate action.

Kheal Das Kohistani, another Hindu MNA representing Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) said, “I strongly condemn the sorrowful incident of miscreants attacking and vandalizing the Ganesha Mandir.” He said he had urged the Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Pakistan, to immediately look into the matter and put the people responsible for the incident behind bars.

“We want those involved in the incident to be arrested and serious action should be taken against them since we are also Pakistani’s,” Kohistani said.

In the recent past, there had been an incident of a Muslim man threatening a young Hindu boy to utter blasphemous words against Hindu gods and goddess in Tharparkar district of Sindh province of Pakistan which affronted the Hindu’s across the globe with condemnations pouring in, forcing the Pak police to swing into action and arrest the accused who was however granted bail.
