Coalition 'probably' had role in civilian casualties in Mosul, says US general

Coalition forces were "probably" involved in the deaths of numerous civilians during recent bombings in west Mosul, the head of the anti-IS coalition in Baghdad said on Tuesday.

Washington: Coalition forces were "probably" involved in the deaths of numerous civilians during recent bombings in west Mosul, the head of the anti-IS coalition in Baghdad said on Tuesday.

"We probably had a role in those casualties," US General Stephen Townsend, commander of Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve, told reporters in a phone briefing from Baghdad.

"A general officer has been appointed to lead investigations" into the deadly March 17 strike, Townsend added.
