In a veiled warning to gau-rakshaks, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday urged the people to not to act in haste and take law into their hand but take the help of law to fight the crime.

Meerut: In a veiled warning to gau-rakshaks, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday urged the people to not to act in haste and take law into their hand but take the help of law to fight the crime. 

The Chief Minister was addressing a gathering here when he asked the people to report the crime and let the law take its course.

"There is no need to take law in hand; if you find something illegal happening around go to the police and let them act, you don`t need to take law into your hand. If there are reports of illegal slaughter houses being in the state, it's the duty of the law enforcing agencies to take firm action against them," CM Adityanath said in Meerut today.

Further elucidating steps taken by his government to maintain decorum in the state, the Chief Minister hailed the anti-Romeo squads and said that the endeavor has ensured a safe environment of girls of the state.

"When our daughters weren`t able go to educational institutions, we formed Anti-Romeo squad and even now if anyone is facing problem then they can lodge a complaint and the law will take its course," said Yogi.

In connection with the cow vigilantism incident in Alwar, a Muslim man was allegedly killed by cow protectors over suspicion of cow smuggling.Pehlu Khan, and four of his associates were attacked and beaten on April 1 on NH-8 while they were on their way to Haryana.

In Dadri district of Uttar Pradesh, a person named Mohammad Akhlaq was lynched and killed in September, 2015 on suspicion that his family stored and ate beef at their house.
