Uttar Pradesh civic polls: Congress to release manifesto today

Lucknow: The Congress party is expected to release on Tuesday its Vision Document for the upcoming civic elections in the BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh.

The ruling BJP and Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP had released their elections manifestos yesterday.

"The party has prepared a vision document for the upcoming local body elections and it will be released on Tuesday," Congress spokesman Virendra Madan had said earlier.

Beside promises of potable water, hygiene, education and various other issues concerning the local bodies, the document will include the party's vision of local governance and development programmes for the people, he said.

Stressing that BJP has been heading most of the urban bodies in UP, including in Lucknow, Madan said there is corruption almost everywhere.

"We will go to the people, tell them about the rampant corruption and ask them whether they still want the same individuals to head their local bodies," he added.
