New Delhi: Union Minister for Water Resources Uma Bharti on Monday reacted to saint-politician Yogi Adityanath's decision on the 'VIP culture' in Uttar Pradesh and said that the use of red beacon is okay if a minister is on an official visit.

"If any minister is going for his duty, then red beacon and stopping traffic is fine and even a flight can get delayed by five to seven minutes," Bharti said while speaking to ANI.

Uma Bharti said the rationale behind this is that if a minister is delayed on his way to a crucial meeting, it can result in loss of crores of rupees should the meeting get postponed.

However, the minister incontrovertibly stated that political leaders shouldn't make use of red beacon or delay flights for person reasons.

"But if a minister is going to attend a wedding, or for any personal visit, this privilege shouldn't continue then," Bharti said.

Earlier today, CM Adityanath issued orders that no minister in the state government will be allowed to use the red beacons atop vehicles.

Earlier, during a meeting with top state officials, Yogi Adityanath had issued clear instructions to ensure that public order across the state is maintained and that it should not be disturbed in the name of celebrations.Adityanath had issued clear instructions to ensure that public order across the state is maintained and that it should not be disturbed in the name of celebrations.

"Utsav ke naam par upadrav nahin hona chahiye (Public order should not be disturbed in the name of celebrations)."

Yogi Adityanath said this while interacting with senior administrative officers, including Chief Secretary Rahul Bhatnagar, Principal Secretary (home) Debashish Panda and DGP Javeed Ahmed, who called on him at the VVIP Guest House, where Yogi is staying.
