Schools will re-open for students of Classes 1-8 in Uttar Pradesh, in a major announcement by the state government on Friday. As per the government direction, schools will re-open for students of classes 6-8 from February 10 and for students of classes 1-5 from March 1. The COVID-19 protocol will be followed, added the state government.

Education Department had sent the proposal: On Tuesday, CM Yogi reviewed the COVID-19 unlock system. After this, he instructed the re-opening of schools from class 6 to 12 in 10 days. Following the instruction of the CM, the Education Department had proposed February 15 for classes 6-8 and March 1 for classes from 1-5. The government approved the department's proposal for the children.

The habit of washing hands frequently and maintaining a distance of at least two yards must be made. The school management should make sure that the COVID-19 protocol is followed completely in classrooms.

The Uttarakhand government has issued orders asking schools all over the state to resume Classes 6 to 11 offline from February 8. However, it also asked the school administrations to ensure COVID-19 appropriate behaviour on part of both students and teachers.

The order issued by Chief Secretary Om Prakash asked the schools to appoint a nodal officer to see that regular sanitising of classrooms, thermal screening of each student and teacher mask-wearing and social distancing norms are complied with. Classes 10 and 12 have been open in the state since November 2020. The decision for the physical resumption of Classes 6-11 from February 8 had been taken by the state cabinet recently.
