Lucknow: An Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Karnataka cadre was on Wednesday found dead under mysterious circumstances in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow.

Anurag Tiwari's body was found near Meerabai Guest House in Hazratganj.

The 2007 Karnataka cadre IAS officer was a native of Bahraich district.

The reason for Tiwari`s death is yet to be ascertained, an official told IANS

The body has been sent for post-mortem.

The UP Police is now pouring through CCTV footage of nearby areas to piece together moments before Tiwari`s death.

Police refused to divulge any further details but confirmed that the "death was suspicious".

As per preliminary reports, Tiwari had recently divorced his wife.

Tiwari's cousin Rahul Pandey told ANI that his tussle with his wife had begun right after their marriage.

"We do not have doubts on anybody right now. The rest will be known when other family members also come," he said.

Civil Hospital's medical superintendent Ashutosh Kumar Dubey said it would be too early to reach any conclusion.

"There was an injury mark on his chin. The body has been sent for post-mortem. Only after the reports are out, something can be said," he said.
