Chennai: A day before Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, a loyalist of VK Sasikala, seeks a trust vote in the Assembly on Saturday, O Panneerselvam today appealed to AIADMK MLAs to vote against the confidence motion.

Addressing the media, the former Tamil Nadu CM Panneerselvam urged the AIADMK legislators to vote against the trust vote and safeguard the interests of Amma (J Jayalalithaa.).

While appealing to AIADMK MLAs to think wisely before casting their vote tomorrow, Panneerselvam said, 'Amma' continuously worked to see that family rule doesn't enter Tamil Nadu politics and till her last she worked to achieve her goal.

After holding hectic discussions at Panneerselvam's residence on Friday morning, a small group of AIADMK leaders met the Speaker in the Secretariat and demanded secret ballot on Saturday.

On Thursday, Edappadi K Palaniswami, of the Saskala camp, was sworn in as Chief Minister and 30 ministers also took oath.

The assembly has been convened on Saturday where Palaniswami with 125 legislators in his camp will seek the confidence of the house for his government.

DMK working president MK Stalin has announced the party MLAs would vote against the Palaniswami government even as Tamil Nadu Congress said they would take decision based on the "advice" of the high command.

TN Congress Committee President Su Thirunavukkarasar said the party would decide its stand on voting based on the advice of the Congress high command.

While DMK has a strength of 89, Congress has eight, IUML one in the Assembly and one seat is vacant.

AIADMK has 134 MLAs in the 234-member legislative assembly.
