DNA: Allahabad HC rejects anticipatory bail plea of Aparna Purohit
The Allahabad High Court on Thursday rejected the anticipatory bail plea filed by the head of Amazon Prime Video's India Originals Aparna Purohit, who has been accused of an inappropriate depiction of Uttar Pradesh police personnel, Hindu deities and an adverse portrayal of a character playing the prime minister in the web series "Tandav".

Earlier, the Supreme Court issued a notice on a petition filed by a Noida-based lawyer alleging that the show 'Mirzapur' is maligning the image of the place in Uttar Pradesh. The SC notice has been issued to Amazon Prime Video which premiered the show.

A bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde after a brief hearing in the matter issued a notice on the plea Centre, Excel Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. and Amazon Prime Video. The petitioner specifically objected to the portrayal of a woman in Mirzapur web-series, hailing from the district having sexual affair with the servant and her father-in-law as well. He alleged that it hampers the image of the place.
