RBI says still more scope for banks to cut lending rates
The Reserve Bank on Thursday said there is more scope for the banks to cut lending rates and also asked for a downward revision in the small savings rates administered by the government.

There will be no change in interest rate on long-term instruments like 5-year term deposit and similar tenure National Saving Certificates (NSC), Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana as well as Public Provident Fund (PPF).

The government on Tuesday cut rates on short-term post office deposits by 0.25 percent but left long-term instruments such as MIS, PPF, senior citizen and girl child schemes untouched.
