An internal working group of RBI on the ownership and corporate structure of private sector banks has favoured allowing promoters to maintain any percentage of holding in the first five years.

Reserve Bank forms panel to suggest measures for promoting orderly growth of digital lending

The Reserve Bank of India said, "Recent spurt and popularity of online lending platforms/mobile lending apps (‘digital lending’) has raised certain serious concerns which have wider systemic implications."As per the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the WG, it has been asked to evaluate digital lending activities and assess the penetration and standards of outsourced digital lending activities in RBI regulated entities, and "identify risks posed by unregulated digital lending to financial stability, regulated entities and consumers".

RBI panel urges tougher line to get banks to pass on rate cuts

The five-member panel, set up by the RBI to look into why lenders were not passing on central bank rate cuts, said in a report on Wednesday that banks "deviated in an ad hoc manner from the specified methodologies" for calculating the lending rates in order to avoid passing on the RBI rate cuts.
