Budget 2016: Govt to provide Rs 1.10 lakh crore for 7th Pay Commission, OROP

During the financial year 2016-17, the Central Government has to make provision for about Rs 1.10 lakh crore in order to meet the liabilities on account of implementation of Seventh Pay Commission recommendations and One Rank One Pension (OROP) Scheme.

Seventh Pay Commission recommendations to cost Rs 1.02 lakh crore to govt

The hefty increase in salary and allowances of central government employees and pensioners following the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission recommendations will put a strain on exchequer to the tune of Rs 1.02 lakh crore in 2016-17, or 0.65 percent of GDP.

Big bonanza for central govt employees: 7th Pay Commission proposes 23.55% hike in salary; minimum pay of Rs 18,000

In percentage terms, the overall increase in pay and allowance and pensions over the business-as-usual scenario will be 23.55 percent. Within this, the increase in pay will be 16 percent, in allowances 63 percent and in pension would be 24 percent.
