Notable changes in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh from October 31
The two UTs - J&K and Ladakh - will came into existence on the day of the birth anniversary of country’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who is credited for the merger of over 560 states into the Union of India.

J&K officially splits into 2 UTs with common high court; 108 central laws come into force
In J&K and Ladakh, all Central laws will now be applicable including the Goods and Service Tax Act. At least 108 new Central laws will become applicable to the two UTs. Some of them include the National Human Rights Commission Act, Central Information Act, the Enemy Property Act and The Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.

High-level MHA meet on implementation of J&K Reorganisation Act underway
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) will hold a high-level meeting on Tuesday to discuss the implementation of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, which bifurcated the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories.
