ITR filing website will be inoperable from June 1 to June 7, know why

The old portal—www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in will become redundant and the new one—www.incometaxgov.in—will operate from June 7 and due to its transition, taxpayers won’t be able to file tax returns till then, the tax department further added. Even the income tax officers will not be able to use the existing portal due to the undergoing process.

Besides, multiple options for on-portal tax payments, multiple options for login, helpdesk support and chatbot are the features in the portal. E-filing services will be unavailable from June 1-6. "If you have to submit any response or avail any service please do it before or after these dates," it said.

5% TDS to be deducted on PPF withdrawals: Here’s what the new rules say

COVID-19 relief: CBDT extends time for filing of original, revised income-tax returns

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Wednesday (June 24) issued a notification to provide further relief to taxpayers by extending the time limit. A finance ministry statement said that extension has been done in reference to the Taxation and Other Laws (Relaxation of Certain Provisions) Ordinance, 2020 brought by the government on March 31.
