New World Bank project to arrest country’s depleting groundwater levels, strengthen groundwater institutions

The programme will introduce a bottom-up planning process for community-driven development of water budgets and Water Security Plans (WSPs). Water budgets will assess surface and groundwater conditions (both quantity and quality) and identify current and future needs.

India's groundwater reserves at depletion risk, warns study

New modelling of the world's groundwater levels found that aquifers - the soil or porous rocks that hold groundwater - in the Upper Ganges Basin area of India, southern Spain and Italy could be depleted between 2040 and 2060.
