Centre extends food law deadline by 6 months
The Centre has given six months' more time to the states for rolling out the National Food Security Act (NFSA), Union Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said Friday.

The law aims at providing legal entitlement to 5 kg of subsidised foodgrains per person per month at Rs 1-3/kg to two-thirds of the country's population.

Centre warns 25 States/UTs to implement food law by April
The food law, passed by Parliament in September last year, has so far been rolled out only in 11 states and Union Territories. Remaining 25 states/UTs have not yet implemented the scheme.

Food law: Centre calls meet of 25 states tomorrow
The Centre has called Wednesday a meeting of Food Secretaries of 25 states/UTs, which have not implemented the National Food Security Act even though Parliament had passed the legislation more than a year ago.
