To mark one-year of EPIC capturing earth from 1 million miles away, NASA released a stunning time-lapse video comprising of more than 3, 000 images of the Earth as it moved around the sun for 365 days.

For the second time in the life of DSCOVR, the moon moved between the spacecraft and Earth, said Adam Szabo, DSCOVR project scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.

The animation was assembled from 13 images acquired by Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera (EPIC), a four-megapixel charge-coupled device (CCD) and Cassegrain telescope on the DSCOVR satellite.
