Centre allows domestic carriers to operate at 65 per cent passenger capacity

The ministry of civil aviation (MoCA) increased the capacity of domestic flights to 65 per cent from 50 per cent on Monday. The order dated July 5 read, "After the review of the current status of scheduled domestic operations viz-a-viz passenger demand for air travel in terms of the purpose specified in previous order 01/2020 dated 25.05.2020… 50% capacity may be read as 65 per cent capacity."

Govt bans on-board meals on flights with duration of less than 2 hours

The ban will come into effect from Thursday, the ministry said in its order. When scheduled domestic flights were resumed on May 25 after coronavirus lockdown last year, the ministry had allowed the airlines to serve in-flight meals under certain conditions.

The Centre on Thursday (May 21) issued the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for air passengers before the resumption of domestic flight services on May 25. The Centre released the SOP after the Airport Authority of India (AAI) had issued SOPs for airports. As per the guidelines issued by the Centre, Aarogya Setu App will not be mandatory for children below 14 years of age and all travellers will have to walk through the thermal screening zones before entering the airport terminal building.
