Black Fever or kala-azar found in Bengal, Mamata Banerjee worries as states reports over 65 cases - Check causes and symptoms

Black Fever: The health department said that surveillance is already underway to prevent the spread of black fever. Darjeeling, Malda, North Dinajpur, South Dinajpur and Kalimpong have high incidence of this fever. In addition to North Bengal, there have been reports of Black Fever cases in South Bengal as well.

65 cases of black fever detected in 11 districts of West Bengal, says official

"Kala-azar was practically eradicated from West Bengal. A recent surveillance, however, led to the detection of 65 cases in 11 districts. Now that these cases have come to the fore, the state will be able to tackle the spread of the disease,” the official said.
