Three dead in border firing by BSF in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar district

The miscreants attacked BSF troops with iron rods and sticks causing injuries to the troops. Sensing imminent threat to their life, BSF party fired in the air towards miscreant, the BSF said in a statement.

After Cooch Behar firing, 71 more CAPF companies to be deployed for remaning 4 phases of assembly election in West Bengal

In the aftermath of latest violence in West Bengal in which five people died in the firing, the poll panel directed the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to rush in and deploy the fresh companies immediately to the state. Till now, a total of 1,000 companies were earmarked for the conduct of elections in the state that has 294 assembly seats.

Cooch Behar firing: Mob of 150 attacked polling staff, tried snatching weapon of CISF jawan, say sources

Official sources claimed that a mob of 150 people attacked polling booth official and tried snatching weapon of an off-duty CISF official that reportedly triggered the violence at Cooch Behar's Sitalkuchi. At least four people were killed during the alleged firing by central forces.
