It was skipper MS Dhoni's first major assignment and he went on to complete it with great distinction.

After the match against Scotland was adbandoned due to rain, the Indians beat Pakistan in a tense bowl-out in the second Group D match.

In the next phase, India got off to a bad start with a defeat to New Zealand. However, Dhoni's young warriors regrouped quickly to win the next three games and secure a place in the final.

One of the highlights of the tournament was Yuvraj Singh hitting six sixes against England.
