Sakshi Malik's felicitation ceremony: Fans disappointed, as Netas hog limelight, wrestler doesn't get to speak

New Delhi: After winning over a billion hearts with her performance at Rio Olympics, wrestler Sakshi Malik was given a grand felicitation ceremony on her return to the village Mokhra.

More than 15,000 people from 36 nearby villages gathered for a glimpse of the girl who made the entire country proud.

As reported by TOI, Sakshi's supporters, who came all they battling rain and crowd, were left dissapointed in the two-and-a-half hour long ceremony, where greedy ministers converted the felicitation into a PR activity, singing praises of their own parties and their contribution towards the wrestler's achievement.

The ministers hogged the limelight by boasting about their achievements while the wrestler didn't get to speak at all.

Haryana education minister Ram Bilas Sharma, Anand Singh Dangi - the Congress MLA from Meham and INLD's Abhay Singh Chautala grabbed the opportunity with both hands to mention their achievements.

As a result of this, Sakshi's fans were disappointed as their superstar did not get a chance to speak at all.

"I had come all the way from Makhrauli Kalan and wanted to listen to Sakshi Malik. But the politicians have hogged all the limelight. It's incredible that Sakshi didn't get to speak even once during the programme," Suman, a junior wrestler and one of Sakshi's dissapointed supporters was quoted as saying by TOI.
