Badminton: In men's singles quarter-finals, Kidambi Srikanth was narrowly beaten by China's Lind Dan 6-21, 21-11, 18-21.

Women's freestyle 58 kg Wrestling: Sakshi Malik made India proud by winning a bronze, India's first at the Rio Olympics. In doing so, she also became the first women wrestler to win and Olympic medal for the country.

Athletics: In Women's 800m, Tintu Luka was knocked out in the first round where she stood 29th.
