New Delhi: Indian shuttler PV Sindhu has made the country proud by becoming the first Indian woman athlete to bag a silver medal at Rio Olympics 2016.

Sindhu, who became the first Indian badminton player to advance into an Olympic final, lost in three games against World No. 1 Carolina Marin in women's singles badminton final.

The wishes started to pour in soon after Sindhu assured India of its second medal with a comprehensive win over Japan's Nozomi Okuhara to book her berth for the semis.

After the Badminton Association of India (BAI) and the Telangana government announced their respective rewards, Delhi Government was the next to announce their monetary reward to Sakshi Malik and PV Sindhu.
